All Saints Day
The simple definition of All Saints Day is “A commemoration of saints both known and unknown.” Most of us go through life unrecognized. The culture of American celebrity uplifts vapid beauty, acts of evil and behavior that departs negatively from the norm. But the saints among us live in anonymity.
One exception, perhaps because her life departed from the norm so radically, is Jane Goodall. In giving her life the betterment of a species, she has made the world a richer, kinder place for all of us.
Many people do so on a smaller scale. Sue Cole, who passed away in May of this year, made each of us feel special and deeply loved.
Kelli Williams wraps the children of ACS in the warmth and protection of her spirituality.
In celebrating these great gifts, perhaps we make some small part of them our own.
